How is Fire Resistant Glass Made? 

Fire resistant glass undergoes a specialised manufacturing process to withstand high temperatures and maintain its integrity during a fire. Depending on the required level of protection, it can be made using: 

• Tempered Glass: Strengthened through heat treatment to resist thermal stress. 
• Laminated Fire Glass: Layers of glass with an intumescent interlayer that expands in heat, blocking fire and smoke. 
• Wired Fire Glass: Embedded with a wire mesh to hold the glass in place when exposed to fire. 

The performance of fire rated glass is measured in terms of integrity (E) – its ability to prevent flames and smoke from passing through, and insulation (EI) – its ability to limit heat transfer. The higher the rating (e.g., EI30, EI60), the longer the glass can withstand fire.

All our fire resistant glass is available as single glazing or fire rated double glazed units, manufactured to meet strict safety standards. We hold Level 1 Attestation (AoC Level 1) accreditation, ensuring that our fire rated products deliver maximum protection.
